The police in Mumbai climb home to security after the Canada café house in Kapil Sharma

-

The security in the Oshiwara residence of the television personality Kapil Sharma was increased after a shooting incident in his newly opened café in Surrey, Canada. The Mumbai police were seen on Friday, one day after the attack in Kaps Café, which he brings together with his wife Ginni Chatrath, in Sharma in the house in the DLH-Enlave building, Andheri West.

According to officers, police staff from the building were used to obtain additional security from the building, and checks are carried out for those who enter and leave the premises. The police also spoke to the private security personnel of the Residential Society and inspected the surroundings. However, there was no official confirmation regarding specific threats from Sharma in Mumbai, and his explanation was not recorded by the authorities either.

The incident in Canada occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday when at least nine to twelve shots on the glass wall of Kaps Café in Surreys 8400 blocks of the 120th street were fired. The attack caused property damage, but no injuries. Harjit Singh, a representative of the banned group Babbar Khalsa, took responsibility for the shootout and said that she was a retaliation for comments on the clothing of Nihang Sikhs’ during a television broadcast organized by Sharma.

The shootout has expressed concerns about the security of Indian celebrities with business interests abroad, especially in view of a recent increase in similar attacks in Canada. The police and other agencies in India remain on alert after the incident.

Sharma has not yet given a public explanation of the attack, and it remains unclear whether he will continue to film in Filmcity for his Netflix show “The Great Indian Kapil Show”. Kaps Café, which opened on July 4, quickly became popular for his decor and men, and the team behind the café has expressed shock and heartache about violence, but also resistance and gratitude for the support of the community.
