A new long roof performance car comes to America and it is not A crossover or an SUV. For those who thought the era of the powerful luxury cars was over, AMG makes the case that there is still room for one. This is the 2026 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid Wagon, which will later arrive at US dealers this year.
We reported for the first time in April of this year about the (W214) E 53 AMG car, but Mercedes has finally announced the US prices for the performance wagon variant, a start-up of $ 93,350, which is about $ 15,000 more than the E-450 4MMATIC All-Terrain car and 5-km more than the E 53 AMG Sedan. For this price of less than 100,000, what you get is a unique mix of great power, efficiency, practicality and first -class dynamics that most SUVs simply cannot keep up.
This car deserves its AMG badge under the skin. In contrast to the outgoing E 53, this new model is a plug-in hybrid. Combined with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, the system generates 577 hp and 553 pound foot torque.
Include the start of the race, and the output rises to 604 hp and left the run from 0 to 60 miles per hour to 3.8 seconds. For the perspective, these numbers set it in the ball park of most high-performance sports cars and the Last Generation V8 E 63 S-cars.
Obviously, Mercedes did not hold back the hardware. Standard over the area are active rear control and adaptive damping, both of which are designed in such a way that a 400 pound car feels far from fancer than it suggests its size. The braking is delivered with the kind permission of AMG composite discs and the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package Waps in larger units, red brake calipers, active engine holders and an electronically controlled differential with limited panties.
The top speed in the typical German way is limited to the illustration of this gentleman of 155 miles per hour. However, if you opt for this performance package and the limit can be raised for a top speed of 171 miles per hour. In view of the fact that this is a hybrid, the E 53 can only reach a speed of up to 87 miles per hour.
Speaking from The hybrid, the system, uses a 28.6 kWh (21.2 kWh) battery, which gives this car up to 41 miles full -time range. DC Fast Lading at 60 kW and AC load at 9.6 kW make you uncomplicated, whether at home or on the street. This means that commuters can be treated daily without ever having to wake the inline six, but they still have AMG firepower on the barrel if they want it.
Visually, the E 53 looks just like a modern AMG. Classic e-class proportions are improved by wider arches, an illuminated radiator grille and quad exhaust tips that arise a balance between refinement and aggression. Inside, the E 53 car delivers the luxury level that you would expect at this price. Heated power places, a Nappa leather-AMG steering wheel with integrated controls and the 17-spokesman-burmester 4D system are standard.
The Edition 1 model for 2026 continues to increase exclusivity with manufacturer alpine paint, AMG graphics, 21-inch tangling wheels and unique interior. In addition, the greatest attraction of this electric car is the fuselage volume, which reaches space at 16.2 cubic feet (about three cubic feet more than the sedan), with all seats comparable to most large SUVs. The hybrid’s battery eats in an otherwise spacious trunk that would offer other cubic feet.
This start does not replace the fire breathing V8-E-63 car, which is the competition in the USA, and is still alive. The revised RS6 Avant and the (G60) BMW M5 touring are still alive. In addition, Porsche has already stepped away from gas wagons, so AMG promoted the flashlight for performance ESTATES in America. Regardless of whether you want the balance between electrification and performance or wait for the inevitable V8 power package, the people in Affalterbach ensure that cars for enthusiasts who want more than another SUV remain firmly on the menu.
