I have worked a little slower in the past few days because I have made my injured hand (about which you can read here), but I managed to make some decent progress in the bedroom and foyer. I prepared all the walls with at least one layer primer and I got a second coat for most of them before I got out of the primer last night.
I was amazed at what difference a few layers were made. Only the walls to see my finished walk -in wardrobe from this chaos …
… for this clean slate was so exciting for me for the trim and wallpaper. It feels like I have crossed the first big hurdle.
And when I saw that these strips have disappeared and I saw the walls white, I really started to get myself excited about my plans for these walls.
I took some time to plan my Waining project. Some time ago I decided to shape myself with a simple picture frame instead of with the more tedious dates of the judges, but I still had to find out how the rectangles on these walls want the rectangles. The last thing I want is that the walls look busy with many small rectangles, but I also came across the problem of having so many walls that have different widths.
My instinct is to make all rectangles as narrow as possible. But the other day, when Matt and I saw a TV show, I paused on the show because the wapting in a house attracted my attention. Instead of having rectangles that were all close to the same size. They only had a large rectangle on most walls. On the really long walls they were separated into two or maybe three rectangles. However, it was clear that everyone who installed this wainscing did not even try to do the rectangles on one of the walls. They simply followed the width of the walls and it looked fantastic!
So I decided on most walls, regardless of the size. On the walls that flank the walk -in wardrobe, I make a rectangle on each side.
The same applies to the rest of the walls in the foyer. (You can see where I went out and did not create a second coat.) So these walls …
… will look like this, with a rectangle made of picture frame shape per wall.
This is the area that I was most concerned about because this door is definitely not centered on this wall. However, I can’t do anything about it, so I have to live with it.
So I will simply continue the one -right per wall plan, although a really narrow rectangle remains to my left of the bedroom doors. I think it will look great when everything is finished.
The bedroom walls are a bit more difficult because I have some pretty areas here. I was not sure whether I would keep them on the one rectangle per wall rule or divided them. (I still have to prepare something with a brush. I only did the parts that I could make with a roller yesterday.)
Since most of it will be behind the bed, I decided to go on this wall with a rectangle.
And on this wall I have another off-center door to work around.
But again because I don’t want things to be too busy, so I will keep them on a rectangle.
But I was conflict in the other two walls. I think the long wall of the wall to the right of the bathroom door is far too long for a rectangle.
In order to make the rectangles look similar on this wall, I may have to break the long wall in three rectangles. This is also the wall that will be most visible because I have no plans to put furniture against this wall. All other walls in the bedroom have furniture and/or curtains in front of them.
Update: Someone suggested that I try two rectangles on the right of the door, and I think I like it better.
And finally there is this last wall. I’m still not sure. (And the primer borne out there.)

The two rectangles would do more of the size of the wall to the right, and the three rectangles would do more of the size of the on the wall on the left (unless I go on the left with two rectangles on the wall). However, I will not stay in this decision because this wall will have it. But I want it to look good and look like I have thought about it. My initial instinct is to go with two. In this way, I take no risk that it looks too busy, and I don’t use a chance to have these outlets where the trim has to go.
So things are progressing and there is progress. It is slower progress because of my injured hand, but at least it’s progress! And I’m so happy to finally have these strips away! With clean, white walls, I can really imagine that my waining and wallpaper plan are planned for these areas, and I am very happy that these walls are finished.
