The progress was slowly on my bedroom walls. I still work through the pain of my injured right hand, and that definitely slowed me down. After I had a lacquer roller for hours on Tuesday, when I primed the walls in the foyer and on the bedroom, I was so grateful to have Wednesday free (I spend on Wednesday afternoons to eat with my mother and brother at noon) because my hand was so sore and painful that I couldn’t have worked, even if I wanted.
But yesterday I was ready to go back to work, even if progress was slow. And although I didn’t get very far, I am more excited with every new step.
So yesterday I installed all the baseboards in the foyer. I used simple 1 “x 5” boards for the baseboards, which are crowned with basiscop formula. And then I cut and install the stool rail shape.
I decided to skip this second primer coat on these walls. Because of my hand, I didn’t want to spend time to pack a paint roller, but I also plan to paint all upper walls a dark teal before I installed the grass wallpaper. The main point of the primer was to cover all unpainted drying flame and drywall walls and to emphasize all areas that needed repairs/patches/loops that I may have overlooked. Although these walls still look like a chaos, the primer served their purpose.
However, I noticed that I missed a place on the ceiling. This has to be prepared, since the color reacts differently on the unknown dry wall than on the primed dry wall, and this stain is obvious when it is not prepared.
Since the walk -in clothing door differs from all other doors in the house (ie larger and only dry wall around the posts instead of cut out), I decided to wrap the chair rail around the door post. Since it is different, I wanted it to be very obvious, so it looks very intended. I really love how it turned out.
On the baseboards I made a straight cut on the 1 × 5 board, but on the baseball cap I made the 45-degree cut so that it ended on the wall.
And then I did the same with the chair rail with the 45-degree curve that ends on the wall.
This will make the wallpaper installation a little more challenged in this area, but I just have to be very patient and meticulous, and I think it will look good.
In the areas in which the chair rail bumps against doors that are cut out, I just made a straight cut in this area. That’s how I did it in the music room, so I wanted them to be consistent. As soon as these ends are painted, they disappear to disappear.
While yesterday I didn’t cut and attached a picture frame, I prepared all the walls for it. I know that different people have different methods for it, but that’s how I do it. I use a 1 “x4” broard and a pencil …
And then I put it on the baseboard (on the basis cap) and draw the line on the wall.
And then I repeat this process under the chair rail and then on the sides to create the vertical lines.
As soon as I pulled this box on the wall (I have improved my pencil markings in the picture below), I measure every single line to cut the cladding.
The reason why I do it is that I have learned in the difficult way that the finished image frame forming when dealing with an old house in which baseboards may not be perfect and nothing is perfect looks much better when I follow the lines of the walls that the walls, baseboards and the chair rail, instead of building the picture frame instead of building perfectly and perfect.
It is a little more work to do this in this way, since every single line has to be measured, but I found that it achieved a better result.
So today I will start measuring all of these lines and cutting the molded part for the picture frames. I am not sure how much I will do because of my hand, but if it is possible, I would like to at least finish the entire stretcher in the foyer.
This includes the picture frames and the rest of the crown shape. If I can at least do so much, I will be very happy about progress.
I hate that I was slowed down by an injured hand, but that’s how life works, right? It is definitely better, but it gets annoying to be slowed down. I will just take a little step forward again and again until I feel that I can move forward with a full sprint without defusing myself again.
