Welcome to another issue of Better2 Know’s patient stories.
At Better2 we know that sharing personal experiences can contribute to destroying the stigma that many people feel in being tested for Stis. We have collected stories of people who have been tested to inspire and encourage others to take this important step for their sexual health.
Certain names and details in these stories have been changed for privacy.

Noran’s history shows the value of happy accidents. While he was a student, a hard boost of his university showed Norman testing how other areas of his life needed some attention.
When Norman went to the university in early 20s, he was pushed into a new environment with new people and new life experiences right in front of him. Like many young students, the thrill of learning mixed well with the thrill of the dating.
If you had sex and are worried about Stis, it is better2 white to help.
“I started to meet 20 to university at the beginning,” said Norman about a video call. Despite his name, Norman has the round, softer characteristics of someone who is quite young, his hair with a single gray from the front. “You would have STI-consciousness trips every few months.
Norman was not about a dramatic sexual encounter or a night full of fun. What led him to test was much prosaic.
“I was not specially concerned that I had a STI because I always used protection, but at the time all my friends were tested at the same event, so I joined.
“I think testing was pressed very hard a decades ago (…). It was pretty normal. I remember that campaigns were everywhere at that time.”
Norman noticed how we have at Better2 Know, the lack of awareness in recent years for sexual health tests.
“There is not much spoken nowadays.
Despite An increased willingness to be tested at homeUnsafe sexual practices increase with 16 to 24 year olds Condom uses far less often than twenty years ago. National Surveys have shown that young people have fewer sex than earlier generations, but rather riskier sexual behaviors and get a STI rather than other age groups. This indicates the need for more access to sexual health education.
We asked Norman how he felt about his results, and when we did it, he bumped out a giggle when an expression of ambivalence crossed his face.
“I was more relieved than worried. I got a message in which I called. I thought the worst, but then found that it wasn’t too serious.”
Fortunately, Noran’s brush with a Sti test did not lead to positive results. At least not this Types of positive results.
“I tested positively for non -specific urethritis, which is caused by hard shower gels. I used to peel a lot and thought nothing of it, but I changed after I found it out what has helped.”
Norman was satisfied with his test experience. But it made him think twice about how casual he had been through his sexual health.
“It is easy to leave it on the priority list if you get a lot going or get about the result, but it is really a relief so that you can do something about it.”
